Former football player Aleksey Nikitin played for the "Khimki" team in the Moscow region. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He expressed his opinion about the initial results of the "Spartak" team in the new season of the Russian championship. According to Nikitin, the responsibility of "Spartak" head coach Stankovich should not be overlooked.
“This team can compete for the championship. I am not demanding his resignation, but it is time to hold him accountable for the results,” Nikitin said on the "Match TV" channel.
In the third round of the Russian Premier League, "Spartak," led by Stankovich, played against "Akron" from the city of Tolyatti and recorded a 1:1 draw. After three matches, "Spartak" has accumulated four points and is in 11th place in the championship table.
In Nikitin's opinion, the team can still continue to fight for trophy positions. However, more responsibility is required from both the coach and the players for the results to improve.
Fans are expecting better results from "Spartak."
