Yuriy Gavrilov, a player of the Spartak football club in Moscow and the former Soviet Union national team, shared his thoughts on legionnaire football players in Russian clubs. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, currently Russian clubs are not participating in European competitions. In such circumstances, it is possible to reduce the number of legionnaire football players.
Yuriy Gavrilov believes that having one foreign player in each line is sufficient. He emphasized the need to provide opportunities for young players at this time.
In Gavrilov's opinion, the current situation creates good conditions for young players to showcase themselves. According to recent information, starting from the next season, Russian football officials plan to gradually tighten the restrictions imposed on foreign players.
According to the new regulations, clubs in the Russian Premier League will be able to include 10 legionnaires instead of 13 in the overall application submitted for the season. Additionally, the number of foreign players allowed on the field at the same time will be reduced from 8 to 5.
These changes are expected to create more opportunities for young football players.
