A new simplified VAR system is being tested in women's football in Spain. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
This system is called Football Video Support and performs similar functions to the previous VAR system. However, in this system, the initiative to review video replays is carried out not by the referee, but by the team coaches.
That is, coaches can appeal to video assistance in certain situations. Nevertheless, the final decisions are made by the main referee on the field.
The new system operates based on four main principles. These are: determining whether the ball crossed the goal line or not, awarding or denying a penalty, determining whether a player is offside, and assessing the level of a player's foul (yellow or red card).
Additionally, each team is granted the right to use video assistance only twice during the match, and once more in extra time. This prevents repeated reviews from occurring at every minute of the game and ensures that the match proceeds in an orderly manner.
This approach serves to make the game transparent and fair.
