Former “Spartak” football player Valeriy Kechinov shared his thoughts on the defeat against “Lokomotiv” in an interview with the “Evro-Futbol” publication. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
While discussing the match, Kechinov emphasized that “Spartak”’s defensive performance was unsuccessful. In his opinion, achieving high results with such a game is difficult.
He noted that “Lokomotiv” did not dominate in all aspects, and that in the first half, ball possession was mainly with “Spartak.” The hosts managed to win by choosing the right tactics, looking for open spaces, and executing counterattacks.
“Lokomotiv” effectively utilized almost all opportunities. Referring to Aleksey Batrakov's three goals, Kechinov stated that his performance would be beneficial for all of Russian football, but for now, he needs to fully demonstrate himself and not rush.
“Spartak” head coach Stankovich stated after the game that there is not a crisis in the team’s play, but rather a crisis in results. Kechinov also expressed his viewpoint on this, emphasizing that the absence of victories for three rounds indicates a crisis, and victories are needed to overcome it.
In the upcoming round, there will be a match against “Zenit,” and he believes that “Spartak” can show itself in this competition. When asked about the possibility of coaches being dismissed, Kechinov did not rule out that such a situation could occur in both clubs.
He mentioned that many individual mistakes are being observed among “Spartak” players, which are causing the lack of results, and that the players are losing confidence and calmness. Regarding “Lokomotiv”’s readiness to compete for the championship, he stated that it is still early, but the team’s composition and play are at a high level, strengthened by experienced players.
Kechinov noted that if “Lokomotiv” shows stable performance, it could join the fight for the championship.
