The former sports director of the Zenit football club from Petersburg, Boris Rapoport, pointed out the main problem with the team's current situation. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, Zenit's biggest problem is the observed slowness in transitioning from defense to attack. By the time the ball reaches the opponent's penalty area, the opposing defenders manage to close all the available spaces.
As a result, the team is unable to act effectively enough in attack. For reference, Zenit has managed to collect only four points in the last four rounds of the Russian championship.
This result is the worst performance for the club in recent years. The last time such a low result was recorded was in 2008 when the team was managed by Dutch coach Dick Advocaat.
Additionally, last weekend, Zenit unexpectedly lost to the Akhmat team, led by Stanislav Cherchesov, in Grozny by a minimal score. This defeat also clearly illustrates the current state of the team.
According to experts, in order for Zenit to improve its results, it is essential to establish a quick transition to attack. Otherwise, it will be difficult for the team to compete for high positions in the championship.
