The Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero acknowledged Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the greatest footballers in history, but did not include him in his list of the top four players, The Telegraph reported.
According to Aguero, the best player in the world is Lionel Messi. He stated that he is not in favor of comparing Messi and Diego Maradona and emphasized that both should be recognized as the best of their era.
"I have never liked such comparisons. We, Argentinians, should accept both Diego and Leo as the best footballers in history," Aguero said.
He also mentioned Brazilian Ronaldo Nazario as a player who had a significant impact on his career:
"The player who inspired me the most is Brazilian Ronaldo."
Aguero also praised Ronaldinho's "Joga Bonito" style. In his view, Ronaldinho was one of the most talented players in terms of technique, dribbling, and creativity.
Thus, Aguero listed the greatest footballers in history as follows:
- Lionel Messi
- Diego Maradona
- Ronaldo Nazario
- Ronaldinho
Cristiano Ronaldo, however, was not included in this list.
