The family of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has agreed to sell the 'Monza' football club to the American investment company Beckett Layne Ventures. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The value of this deal is 45 million euros, but initially, the buyer will only acquire 80 percent of the shares. The remaining 20 percent of the shares will remain with the previous owners until 2026, according to Reuters. It is worth noting that Berlusconi himself bought 'Monza' in 2018 and led the club to Serie A within four years.
After the former prime minister's death in 2023, the club has been managed by his family. Last season, the team finished at the bottom of the league table and was relegated to Serie B.
For this reason, a decision was made to reduce funding and subsequently sell the club. Silvio Berlusconi's name is famous for his time managing the 'Milan' club, which he transformed into one of Europe's leading teams. Under his influence, 'Milan' achieved numerous significant successes and gained international recognition.
Now, the 'Monza' club, managed by his family, is preparing to turn a new page under new owners. This sale is being regarded as an important change for the country's football.
