The former general director of the Moscow "Spartak" team, Yuri Zavarzin, compared the new member of the "red-white" team, Anton Zabolotniy, with Aleksandr Sobolev. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
In his opinion, although their sizes and roles on the field are similar, it is incorrect to evaluate these two football players at the same level. Zavarzin does not want to make a direct comparison with Sobolev, as they only resemble each other in appearance, but there is a significant difference in character.
Sobolev left the team not only for his football performance but also due to his personal characteristics. Zavarzin also emphasized that the current "Spartak" squad mainly consists of short players and that the team needs a strong anchor in attack. In the 2024/2025 season, Zabolotniy played 31 games for the "Khimki" team near Moscow, scoring six goals and providing as many assists.
These numbers indicate his effectiveness in attack, but "Spartak" still lacks collective strength and experience. Therefore, the character of new players and their adaptation to the team is considered important.
