Former player of the Russian national team Yevgeniy Aldonin expressed his opinion in an exclusive interview with the online publication "Evro-Futbol.Ru" about the possibility of a friendly match between the Russian and Chilean national teams. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, the game planned to be held in Moscow in November will be very important and interesting. Aldonin assessed the Chilean national team as a good opponent.
He stated that the Chilean team was once considered one of the strongest national teams in South America, but currently, due to a generational change, their results are not as high. Nevertheless, there have always been many standout star players in this team, making them a strong opponent.
The former player admitted that he does not know the current players of the team well. For example, it was noted that one of the leaders of the Chilean national team is Arturo Vidal.
However, Aldonin mentioned that he had followed Vidal during his time playing in Europe, but has now distanced himself a bit from his career. Vidal can still be considered a high-level player, but his age is an important factor.
Aldonin also commented on proposals regarding holding the game in Moscow or other regions. According to him, this issue depends on the readiness of the opposing team and the travel distance.
Since the Moscow stadium has always attracted fans, it is advisable to hold the game there. The programs organized by the Russian Football Union before and after the match will provide convenience for players and fans and create a festive atmosphere.
The Russian national team recently played against Nigeria, and in Aldonin's opinion, the Chilean team is of similar strength. He also mentioned that the current lack of players from the Chilean national team playing in major European championships indicates the level of generational change.
