The "Torpedo" club of Moscow will not participate in the Russian Premier League in the new season. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The "Autoworkers" team was expelled from the top division for attempting to organize fixed matches. The Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union imposed sanctions on the club's former director Valeriy Skorodumov and one of the club's partners, Leonid Sobolev.
They received bans of ten and five years, respectively, from conducting football activities. Currently, Skorodumov and Sobolev are in custody, facing criminal charges, and they may face prison sentences.
This situation once again highlighted the importance of fairness and transparency principles in Russian football. Therefore, football organizations must take strict measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Fans and the sports community also need to pay serious attention to these issues.
