Former defender of Moscow "Spartak," Dmitriy Parfenov, compared the current head coach of "Real" Madrid, Xabi Alonso, to the former coach of the "cream" team, Zinedine Zidane. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He noted that the French specialist also managed the team as an inexperienced coach at one time, but this did not prevent him from winning numerous trophies. According to Parfenov, Alonso's championship and German Cup victory with "Bayer" is one of his strong points.
Perhaps the team needs a coach with more experience. Nevertheless, it should be remembered that Zidane managed "Real" as a young coach and won all the trophies in Madrid.
Alonso was appointed as the coach of "Real" on June 1, taking over from Carlo Ancelotti, who left for the Brazil national team. Under the leadership of the Spanish specialist, "Real" reached the final of the FIFA Club World Cup but suffered a heavy defeat to "PSG."
In the 2024/2025 season, "Real" failed to win any trophies. Alonso's main task is to restore the club's former glory.
