Florentino Peres is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his leadership of Madrid's "Real" football club this month. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He was elected to this position in July 2000. In the initial elections, Peres won, and the main reason for his success was the promise to bring in Portuguese player Luis Figo.
This promise was not just words and was fulfilled. However, the early years of management were not easy for Peres.
The "Real" club lost the positions it had gained in the late 1990s, and the money spent on players was very large. As a result, in 2006, Peres was forced to resign.
In 2009, he returned to management and promised to bring in another Portuguese player, Cristiano Ronaldo. He fulfilled this promise as well and continued to lead the club.
Since then, Florentino Peres has been managing Madrid's "Real" club without letting go.
