Apple to sharply cut iPhone 17 production

Apple has made significant adjustments to the production plans for the iPhone 17 model expected to be released next year, according to Zamin.uz.
According to the latest information, the technology giant has been forced to reduce the production volume of the base model to about one-third of the originally planned figure. This decision is directly linked to economic changes in the smartphone market and the rising cost of components.
Reliable sources in the industry reported that Apple initially planned to cut production line load by fifteen percent. However, this figure has now increased to as much as thirty-three percent over the past week.
Such a sharp move indicates that significant changes are occurring in the company’s strategy for the coming year. The primary reason cited for the production cut is the excessive increase in the price of fast and permanent memory chips.
Since Apple uses high-quality and fast memory modules in its devices, component market prices have a significant impact on the smartphone’s retail price. For the base iPhone 17 model, this situation leads to a decline in profitability.
It is worth noting that higher-end models such as the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max have so far not been affected by such restrictions. More expensive models provide higher profits for the company, meaning the difference between their cost and selling price is greater.
Therefore, the rising cost of components does not seriously undermine the profit-generating capability of flagship models. Although Apple has recently increased the prices of its personal computers and tablets, it is attempting to maintain price stability in the smartphone segment.
However, the ongoing rise in component costs may make it impossible to keep prices stable in the long term. Experts predict that smartphone prices could see a significant increase starting with the iPhone 18 series.
Given the high demand for such smartphones in the Uzbek market, a reduction in production volume could lead in the future to a shortage of base models or prices rising higher than expected. Although Apple has not officially commented on this information, the sources that spread the report have previously provided accurate details about the company’s products.
In particular, rumors about the design and cancellation of the casing project for the upcoming generation of budget smartphones have found confirmation.
