In Uzbekistan, a new procedure is planned to be introduced to effectively organize the local government management system, reduce excessive structures, and increase transparency of activities. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
A draft presidential decree has been developed and submitted for public discussion. This was reported by the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan.
According to the draft, by the end of 2026, a new management system will be introduced in 32 district and city administrations across the country. Based on the new approach, territorial divisions of several ministries and agencies will be incorporated into the structure of the local administrations.
Specifically, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment, Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Ministry of Culture, Committee on Family and Women, and the Youth Affairs Agency will be transferred to the district and city administrations. At the same time, the number of positions in the administrations will also be reduced.
Currently, each district and city mayor has 6 deputies, but under the new procedure, their number will be set at 4. These changes aim to increase responsibility and accountability while reducing bureaucracy.
According to experts, reforming the structures of local administrations will simplify the population's interaction with government bodies, accelerate decision-making processes, and help reduce the risk of corruption. As a result of the final approval and implementation of the document, the quality of the administrations' activities is expected to reach a new level (source: UzA).
