President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the informal summit of the Turkic States Organization held in Budapest on May 21.

At the event chaired by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the presidents of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan, Sadir Japarov, Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogʻan, and the Secretary General of the Turkic States Organization, Kubanichbek Omuraliyev, also attended.

According to the agenda, opinions were exchanged on the current state and prospects of multifaceted cooperation within the organization, and pressing issues of practical cooperation were discussed.

At the beginning of his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the complex situation in the world is rapidly changing due to the increasing geopolitical and geoeconomic conflicts, regional disputes, and the consequences of climate change.

The President emphasized the importance of strengthening the common approaches and positions of the member states of the organization based on international law norms and the UN Charter in addressing urgent international issues.

While addressing the issues of developing practical cooperation within the Turkic States Organization, the leader of Uzbekistan pointed out the enormous untapped potential in this area and made several new proposals.

It was emphasized that the signing of a treaty on strategic partnership, eternal friendship, and brotherhood among Turkic states initiated by Uzbekistan is of urgent importance. It was expressed confidence that this document would serve to bring our peoples closer together and strengthen the long-term legal basis for multifaceted cooperation.

The President paid special attention to the issues of developing trade-economic, investment, and transport-communication cooperation. In particular, it was proposed to create an online platform "Turk-trade" to increase the share of mutual trade in the total foreign trade turnover of the member states and to adopt a practical program to increase commodity exchanges.

To ensure the growth of cargo transportation volumes through the Trans-Caspian International Route and to simplify customs-border procedures, the head of state called for the rapid implementation of a "single window" and "green corridors" system along this route. To expand cooperation in this area, an international forum on multimodal transport and logistics of Turkic states is planned to be held in Tashkent in November this year.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomed the establishment of the Turkic Investment Fund and emphasized the importance of creating a single portal to support innovative projects and present the investment opportunities of the member states of the Organization.

To expand cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation, it was proposed to develop a special program for establishing large production capacities in the chemical, energy, mining, light industry, pharmaceuticals, leather-footwear, food, and construction sectors.

While addressing the climate agenda, the head of state noted with satisfaction that several important initiatives to strengthen global and regional cooperation in the field of "green" development were put forward during the recent International Climate Forum held in Samarkand. The initiative of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to launch the Institute for Drought Prevention in Budapest was supported. It was proposed to develop a joint "roadmap" for preventing drought and ecological problems to facilitate its activities and involve broader participation in targeted projects.

The President of Uzbekistan paid special attention to the issues of developing cooperation in the fields of science, culture, and education. The opening of the International Turkic States University in Tashkent was emphasized as a significant contribution to the implementation of educational programs of the member states and the training of talented youth.

The leader of Uzbekistan proposed to develop proposals for improving the activities and structure of the International Turkic Culture Organization - TURKSOY and to hold the next meeting of the Council of the Turkic Culture Fund in Uzbekistan.

At the end of his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the renowned Turkish scientist, biochemist, and Nobel Prize laureate Aziz Sancar on being awarded the Alisher Navoi International Prize.

At the end of the summit, the Budapest Declaration and several other documents on priority areas of cooperation were adopted.
