Peruvian fisherman Napa Kastro was stranded at sea for 95 days and was found alive near the shores of Ecuador several months later. This was reported by Peru's "Peru 21" newspaper.
Napa Kastro set out to sea on December 7, 2024, from his hometown of Marcona on the fishing boat "Gaton-2." He had been in contact with his relatives, but after 10 days, communication was likely lost near Santa-Rosa Island. His relatives immediately began search efforts, but it was impossible to find any trace of the fisherman’s boat.
After 84 days of searching, news came from Ecuador — Napa Kastro was found alive near the shores of Ecuador. The fisherman had spent the last 15 days suffering from dehydration, and he was rescued by the crew of a local fishing vessel.
After being rescued, Napa Kastro informed his relatives through a video call that he was alive and well. The Peruvian fisherman’s family has since asked the government for help in bringing Napa back to his homeland.
