The price of meat in Uzbekistan is higher compared to the CIS countries
According to data from the international service Numbeo, the price of 1 kg of beef in Uzbekistan is 8.1 US dollars. This figure is considered high compared to Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. This situation may be related to the overall price changes in the food market and economic processes in the country.

Meat Prices in the World and CIS Countries

The most expensive beef in the world is in Switzerland, where 1 kg of beef costs 44.3 US dollars. The prices of this product are also very high in Iceland and South Korea, amounting to 38.7 and 28 dollars, respectively. On the other hand, the cheapest meat is recorded in Pakistan (4.04 dollars), Nigeria (4.50 dollars), and Ghana (4.78 dollars).

In the CIS countries, there are cheaper options available than in Uzbekistan. For example, the price of meat in Kazakhstan is approximately 6-7 dollars, while in Russia it is around 7 dollars. This situation can be explained by the influence of competition in the food market, imports, and domestic production processes in Uzbekistan.

Why is the price of meat high in Uzbekistan?

There are several reasons for the high price of meat in Uzbekistan:

1. Supply chain issues – Transportation costs play a significant role in the process of meat products reaching the market.
2. Increase in feed prices – The rise in the cost of necessary feed for livestock increases farmers' expenses.
3. Slaughter and production costs – Labor costs and the price of production processes in livestock farms can be high.
4. Import restrictions and high demand – The demand for meat in Uzbekistan is very high, which affects market prices.

Increase in meat prices in the global market

The price of meat in the global market has increased by 18% within a year. In Uzbekistan, this figure has been 14.4%. In particular, bone-in beef has increased by 18.5%, and lamb has risen by 19.4%. At the same time, poultry meat has slightly decreased in price.

Consumer and market relations

The rise in meat prices negatively affects the purchasing power of the population. This forces people to turn to cheaper alternative products. For example, many have started to resort to poultry meat or other substitute products.

The high prices of meat in Uzbekistan are related to several factors, and this situation arises from economic processes, as well as the balance of supply and demand. To ensure food security in the country, it is necessary to develop the livestock sector, reduce feed shortages, and improve import processes.
