The Swedish government has decided to make significant changes to the education system. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Starting from the autumn of 2026, the use of mobile phones by students will be completely banned in all schools across the country. This decision applies to children aged 7 to 16.
In each school, mobile phones will be collected from students before classes begin and returned only after the lessons end. The main goal of this new regulation is to create a more effective learning environment and ensure the safety of children.
This decision in Sweden is similar to practices adopted in other European countries. For example, at the beginning of the year, a government commission in Denmark recommended restricting the use of mobile phones in children’s centers and schools.
According to them, children under 13 should not have smartphones or tablets. In Norway, a strict age limit for using social networks was established last year.
The government banned social network use for children under 15, accusing technology companies of negatively impacting the brains of the younger generation. Additionally, in January 2024, smartphones were banned in almost all schools in the Netherlands.
Research results showed that this regulation significantly improved the learning environment. Seventy-five percent of survey participants noted that it became easier for children to concentrate, and 28 percent observed improved educational outcomes.
These measures are aimed at enhancing the quality of education and protecting young people from excessive technological influence.
