Another horrific kidnapping incident has occurred in Nigeria. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to information from the Christian Association, unknown individuals attacked a Catholic boarding school located in the village of Papiri in Niger State. This event took place on the night of November 21.
During the attack, armed criminals stormed the school premises, shot and killed the guard, and forcibly took away 303 schoolgirls and 12 teachers. Currently, the country's security forces are continuing the search for the kidnapped schoolgirls.
Following this tragedy, many educational institutions have been temporarily closed for security reasons. President Bola Tinubu canceled his participation in the G20 summit in South Africa due to the serious situation.
The problem of kidnapping in Nigeria has been deepening over the years. A few days ago, 25 schoolgirls were kidnapped from a boarding school in Kebbi State.
Additionally, 38 people were taken hostage as a result of an attack on a church in Kwara State. Criminals usually demand a ransom of 100 million naira for each kidnapped person.
Armed groups operating in the country, especially in the northwestern and central regions, are widespread and continue to kidnap thousands of people. One of the most notorious incidents occurred in 2014 when the Boko Haram group abducted 276 schoolgirls from a school in Chibok.
Out of them, 82 are still missing. The situation has intensified in recent weeks.
Former US President Donald Trump criticized the Nigerian government for not taking sufficient measures to prevent the killing of Christians. President Tinubu rejected these accusations and emphasized that the situation in the country is under control.
This incident once again demonstrates that Nigeria's security system is undergoing a serious test.
