In a conversation with journalist Kristen Welker, Trump noted Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President Jay DeVance as politicians capable of managing the country in the future. According to him, these two politicians could lead the "Make America Great Again" movement by continuing his political direction.
Trump indicated that he is not limited to these two names, stating that another 10-15, perhaps even 20 politicians are ready to do their utmost to ensure the country's future and elevate it further.
“After my presidency ends, many politicians will be able to fight for the country's future. Unlike the Democratic Party in the US, we have talented and young politicians. This younger generation following me can actively participate in governing the country. Unfortunately, the Democrats have almost no young and talented politicians,” Trump said.
According to Trump, this situation may not create a healthy competitive environment for his successors.
Currently, according to the US Constitution, the president cannot hold office for more than two terms. According to the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, "no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice." This rule can only be changed by amending the Constitution, which requires a two-thirds vote from both houses of Congress (the Senate and the House of Representatives) and support from three-fourths of the states.
“I will serve as President of the United States for eight years, that is, two terms. This is a rule that is very important to me. I have always said this openly,” Donald Trump stated.
However, he indicated that his thoughts about a potential third term are also serious. Trump noted that it is still early to discuss this issue, but many people have emphasized their support for his decision in this regard.
“My thoughts about a third term are serious, but there is time to come to a final decision on this topic. I also know that there are many who support my opinion on this matter,” he added.
