Earthquake in Shanghai: No casualties

An unexpected and alarming event occurred in Shanghai: a ground collapse measuring 10–20 meters in width happened within a few seconds. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As a result of the sudden ground subsidence, sections of the road, construction materials, and temporary structures fell into the depth. According to initial information, no one was injured as a result of the incident.
Drivers and pedestrians present in the area noticed the danger and quickly managed to move away from the site. Workers at the construction site were also promptly evacuated.
According to preliminary conclusions by experts, the ground collapse may have been caused by metro construction and water leakage detected one day earlier. It is assumed that due to the water, the soil layer became moist and loosened, resulting in the sudden subsidence.
Notably, a similar incident was recorded in the same area in 2024. Currently, specialists are conducting investigations to thoroughly study the causes of the event.
Since such incidents can pose significant danger, it is important to strengthen safety measures and implement actions based on the investigation findings. This will help prevent such unfortunate events in the future.
