A French farmer discovered a gold mine worth 4 billion euros
A French farmer, Michel Dupont, was walking along a stream that runs through his land and found gold in the water. The reserve of the precious metal, which can reach 150 tons, is estimated to be worth 4 billion euros.
“I was just conducting a planned inspection on my plot of land. At that moment, I noticed a strange glimmer on the ground. When I dug a little deeper, I couldn’t believe what I was holding in my hand,” said the farmer.
The French government quickly intervened in the situation and confiscated the gold found by the farmer. According to the law, it must be transferred to the state. If Dupont wants to carry out excavation work on his land, he must obtain permission from the government.
According to Michel Dupont, after the gold was discovered, the demand for the areas surrounding his land sharply increased.
The local population's opinion is divided due to the discovered gold mines. Some are worried that if precious metals are mined on a large scale nearby, it could harm the environment. Others view the situation positively, as it could create new job opportunities.
