Stellantis produces affordable electric vehicles in a new format in Italy

Stellantis has officially confirmed its plans to begin producing a new type of compact electric vehicle in Italy starting in 2028, as reported by Zamin.uz.
The project will be implemented under the new ecological regulations introduced by the European Commission, which provide automakers with various advantages and incentives for developing small electric vehicles.
According to influential publications, under the new classification, these electric vehicles—no longer than four meters in length—will play an important role in meeting environmental protection requirements in the European market.
Stellantis management considers this direction to be the most convenient and promising solution for daily urban commutes. The company emphasizes that, at present, there are almost no high-quality cars priced below fifteen thousand euros available on the European market.
The new initiative aims precisely to fill this gap and provide affordable transportation to the general public. Due to their minimal environmental impact, compact electric vehicles are expected to benefit from special regulations and incentive programs.
Production will be launched at the plant in Pomigliano, Italy, which currently manufactures well-known models such as the Fiat Panda and Alfa Romeo Tonale and has an annual capacity of up to three hundred thousand vehicles.
In the future, this facility is planned to produce a new generation of compact electric vehicles under the Fiat and Citroën brands. This step will not only strengthen Stellantis’ position in the market but also accelerate the transition toward clean transportation in Europe.
