
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received a delegation led by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaya Kallas, on March 27. Issues related to expanding practical cooperation and preparing for upcoming joint events were discussed.
At the beginning of the meeting, the high-ranking guest conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to our country's leader.
Special attention was paid to the organization of the first summit of "Central Asia - European Union" to be held in Samarkand on April 3-4 this year. The effective outcomes of the multilateral meeting at the ministerial level held today in Ashgabat were highly appreciated.
The importance of promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the two regions in trade and logistics, including the realization of the potential of the Trans-Caspian transport corridor, digitalization, "green" energy, ecology, modernization of infrastructure, and other priority areas, as well as implementing effective mechanisms for the realization of initiatives and projects was noted.
Issues related to deepening Uzbekistan's relations with EU institutions were discussed.
The adoption of a new agreement on expanded partnership and cooperation and the discussion of our country's accession to the World Trade Organization were also addressed.
