Saida Mirziyoyeva provided information about the process of joining the World Trade Organization

Uzbekistan took a significant step towards joining the World Trade Organization last year, and this year the work will continue at the same pace, announced presidential assistant Saida Mirziyoyeva.

“Last year, the WTO Working Group held two important meetings. This allowed us to begin preparing the main document for membership – the Working Group Report draft. Additionally, bilateral negotiations were completed with 15 countries, including the USA, China, and Japan. As a result, Uzbekistan has 23 signed agreements.

In a short time, 20 important laws were adopted to make business and competition more transparent.

We will continue at this pace this year to become a full member of the Organization. This should enhance our country's investment attractiveness and ensure that Uzbek businesses enter regional and global value chains.

The ultimate goal of joining the WTO and the reforms carried out by the head of state is undoubtedly to ensure the well-being of our people, create decent jobs for them, and transition the economy to a more efficient management system,” Mirziyoyeva wrote on her Telegram channel.

It should be noted that one of the requirements for joining the World Trade Organization was fulfilled starting January 1: the compensation of transportation costs for exporters was stopped, and the benefits granted for profit tax and turnover tax were canceled.
