Igor Semshov, a former player of the Russian national team, shared his opinion about the most popular football club in the country. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, throughout history, the popularity of the "Spartak" club has been above that of "Zenit." However, the situation has changed in the last decade, and now "Zenit" has surpassed in terms of popularity.
Semshov stated that currently "Spartak" is a bit behind. The expert emphasized that the "Spartak" club reached the peak of its popularity in the 1990s.
At the same time, he noted that the number of fans for both clubs is approximately the same. In Semshov's opinion, both "Spartak" and "Zenit" teams are of great importance in Russian football today, and both have their own fan bases.
The first encounter between these two teams in the new season of the Russian Premier League is scheduled to take place on August 16 at the "Lukoyl Arena" stadium.
