The number of clubs in the Premier League will not be reduced – Masters

The Executive Director of the English Premier League, Richard Masters, commented on reports that the number of teams participating in the English championship may decrease. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

This topic began to be discussed in the media following the introduction of a new format for the World Championship among clubs. According to Richard Masters, the issue of reducing the number of teams is not on the agenda for now.

He emphasized that there have been 20 clubs participating in the Premier League since 1994, with 380 matches played each season. In his opinion, this system has proven itself and there is currently no need for change.

He also mentioned that he is working on adapting the Premier League's domestic competition schedule to changes at the European and global levels. The new season will start in England very shortly.

It is worth noting that recently, Chelsea won against PSG and was recognized as the best club in the world. Additionally, preparations for the new season have begun even before the conclusion of the Summer Series games currently taking place in the USA.
