Barcelona's former sporting director Ramon Planes recalled that striker Alexander Isak was very close to moving to Catalonia. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, when Isak was playing for Real Sociedad, Barcelona was very close to signing him. Planes emphasized that he saw Isak as a striker who would fit very well into Barcelona's playing style.
However, for various reasons, the transfer did not happen. Currently, the Swedish player is considered one of the strongest strikers in the world.
Recently, England's Newcastle club refused to sell Isak to Liverpool for nearly 130 million euros. Ramon Planes served as Barcelona's sporting director from 2018 to 2021.
He is currently working at Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad club. In an interview, Planes recognized Alexander Isak as a high-level player and stated that his future is bright.
At the same time, Barcelona's management also expressed regret that the Isak transfer did not take place.
