Former Moscow CSKA football player Ivan Taranov expressed his opinion about the restrictions imposed on foreign players in the Russian championship. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He emphasized that there should be no limit on the number of foreign players, but there should be certain regulations and conditions in place. According to Taranov, if the restrictions are lifted, it is not right to bring in any player, and offering weak legionnaires could negatively impact the development of football.
Currently, in the Russian Premier League, each team can field 8 foreign players on the pitch at the same time. This restriction was introduced to create opportunities for local players to grow and gain experience.
At the same time, the participation of strong legionnaires contributes to raising the level of competition in the league. In the new season, Moscow's Lokomotiv team is at the top of the table with three victories in the Russian Premier League.
In second place is the Wings team from Samara, and in third place is the Baltika club from Kaliningrad. As the championship continues, the topic of the number of legionnaires and their quality is being discussed among the football community.
In this regard, specialists and players are expressing various opinions.
