Former football player Vladimir Granat expressed his opinion that the restrictions on the number of foreign players in the Russian championship may be intensified. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, if the number of legionnaires in the championship is reduced, only high-level players will come to the country. Vladimir Granat emphasized that in such a situation, local players will also improve their skills more quickly by playing alongside experienced and strong players.
According to the newly announced restrictions, five foreign players can participate on the field at the same time in the Russian championship. Additionally, a total of ten legionnaires can be included in the team roster.
Currently, the following rules apply in the country's championship: each team can have eight foreign players on the field at the same time, and a total of thirteen legionnaires can be added to the roster. These changes are aimed at enhancing the experience of local players and raising the level of the championship.
Experts believe that the reduction in the number of legionnaires will have a positive impact on the development of national football.
