Media reports have circulated that Ukrainian footballer Ilya Zabarnyy can only transfer to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) if Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov leaves the team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
In this regard, Russian State Duma deputy Dmitriy Svischyov expressed his opinion. According to Deputy Svischyov, he does not understand why the Russian goalkeeper should leave the team for reasons unrelated to sports.
He emphasized that Safonov is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world in his position and will not have difficulty finding a job. Svischyov also believes it is wrong for PSG to listen to the opinions of Ukrainian consultants.
Svischyov stressed that sports and politics should not be mixed. In his opinion, such situations contradict the fundamental principles of sports.
For reference, Matvey Safonov has been defending the honor of PSG since last summer. At the Paris club, he has won the French championship, the French Cup, the French Super Cup, and the Champions League.
Ukrainian footballer Zabarnyy is reportedly demanding that Safonov leave the team as a condition for his transfer to PSG.
