Valeriy Karpin, head coach of Moscow's Dinamo team and the Russian national team, revealed when he first considered leaving the Rostov club. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, this thought arose at the beginning of the 2023/2024 season, when the team went on two consecutive away trips. The specialist said that in such situations he could not see his family for at least a week, and the continuous trips caused by the closure of Rostov airport negatively affected his condition.
In the interview, Karpin said: "We were in Rostov preparing for the first trip. As soon as I got on the bus, the thought came that everything was over.
We had not even left the base yet." He also recalled that each trip lasted about 11-12 hours in total.
Earlier, Viktor Onopko, a member of the Rostov coaching staff, spoke about how Karpin announced his departure from the team. This situation was a serious decision for the coach and remained an important turning point in his career.
