One of these strikes was clear. A few days after the incident, Smolov presented his statement and explained the reason for his long silence.
He said he was ready to comment immediately, but first mentioned that a police report was in process. Therefore, he decided to submit the report first and then express his opinion openly.
According to Smolov, he acted within the law and tried to compensate for the damages caused to the injured party. It is worth noting that this incident occurred on May 28, just a few days after Smolov had received the title of Russian champion.
