Germany is increasing its military technology budget
Germany aims to lead in military technologies in Europe. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

The country plans to increase its military budget to 162 billion euros by 2029. These funds will primarily be directed towards the development of artificial intelligence, autonomous robots, combat drones, and advanced surveillance technologies.

One of the most notable startups is Helsing, which creates combat drones and artificial intelligence solutions. Recently, its value was estimated at 12 billion dollars.

According to Gundbert Sherf, Europe is investing more in military technologies than the United States for the first time. Additionally, a technology called "spy swallows," developed by a startup in Germany named Swarm Biotactics, is gaining particular attention.

These live insects are controlled through artificial stimulation, allowing for real-time intelligence data collection. The German government is preparing a draft law to simplify the entry of startups into new defense tenders.

This law will allow small companies to participate in military contracts on a prepayment basis. It is also envisioned that only manufacturers within the European Union will be allowed to participate.

Startups in the country such as ARX Robotics, Quantum Systems, and Donaustahl are engaged in creating AI-powered robots, drones, and new types of weapons. While the role of the US in NATO is becoming uncertain, Germany is striving to enhance its military capabilities and localize the European defense industry.

Although Germany's economy has slowed down in the last two years, investments in military technologies could be a revitalizing factor for the economy. In 2024, venture capital investments directed towards defense startups in Europe reached 1 billion dollars, with Germany being the most active investor in this field.
