In recent days, the most important point on the battlefield between Ukraine and Russia – the Pokrovsk direction in Donetsk region is again in the spotlight. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to several sources, Russian armed forces are advancing towards Kramatorsk and Slovyansk, breaking through Ukrainian defenses around the city of Dobropole. However, this information has not yet been confirmed by independent sources, and there are no video recordings on the internet confirming such deep movements.
OSINT analysts are also studying the situation on the ground. According to data from the DeepState OSINT project, which is close to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Russian troops have advanced 8-10 kilometers north of Pokrovsk, reaching the villages of Kucherov Yar and Zolotoy Kolodes.
They are gathering strength in this area and fortifying positions for the next move. Small groups that have crossed into the village of Veseloye have also been noted.
The Russian army is trying to fortify in the villages of Novovodyanoye and Petrovka along the Dobropole-Kramatorsk route. DeepState analysts emphasize that the Russians are bypassing engineering obstacles built by Ukrainian armed forces and later using them for their own defense.
If Zolotoy Kolodes, Kucherov Yar, Veseloye, and nearby villages are taken under control, the city of Dobropole may fall before Pokrovsk. International military analysts are also monitoring the situation.
According to Finnish military expert Pasi Paroynen, Russian troops penetrated approximately 17 kilometers into Ukrainian defenses between August 9-11. Some sources have also reported that Russian groups have approached the outskirts of Dobropole.
According to the publication "Ukrainskaya Pravda," the movements from May to the end of July have increased the risk of cutting off the Pokrovsk-Konstantinovka route. This route is the main supply line for the city.
In June, this road was temporarily closed due to a Russian drone attack. The Ukrainian armed forces' "Dnepr" group announced that Russian troops are divided into small groups and are trying to breach the first line of defense.
Nevertheless, they emphasized that the areas are not fully under control. The "Azov" units reported that they have fortified the defense line near Pokrovske.
The former commander of "Azov," Bogdan Krotevich, addressed President Zelensky, emphasizing that the situation is very serious. In his opinion, mistakes in the Ukrainian command and a lack of forces are causing the rapid advance of Russian troops.
Some sources in Russia report that sabotage and reconnaissance groups are operating in the Dobropole direction. However, there is currently no concrete evidence of large-scale success.
Political scientist Sergey Markov described this situation as a "souvenir" that has arisen before negotiations between Putin and Trump. On August 15, at a summit in Alaska, Trump and Putin are expected to discuss the Ukraine conflict.
According to some media reports, Putin wants to take control of the part of Donetsk that is under Ukrainian control, but has no intention of returning the occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. At the same time, Ukrainian President Zelensky has stated that he will not agree to any territorial concessions.
