The situation related to Lassa fever, a dangerous disease transmitted from animals to humans in Nigeria, is worsening. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the country's Center for Disease Control, since the beginning of this year, 162 people have died due to this virus. This number shows how dangerous the epidemic is.
Lassa fever has currently been recorded in 21 states of Nigeria, including the capital city Abuja. Just between August 25 and 31, 10 new cases were confirmed.
From January 1 to August 31, the total number of infected people reached 871. Experts emphasize that last year, 190 people died in the country due to Lassa fever.
This indicates the annual spread of the virus and the increase in death cases. The Nigerian government declared a state of emergency in the country on January 23, 2019, due to the widespread outbreak of the disease.
Since then, necessary measures have been taken by the government, but the fight against the virus remains complicated. Lassa fever is a viral disease transmitted from rodents to humans.
Symptoms of the disease include high fever, internal bleeding, weakness, headache, as well as liver and kidney dysfunction. Experts point out that the danger of the virus lies in the fact that its initial symptoms are difficult to distinguish from those of many other diseases, which complicates diagnosis.
Therefore, prevention and early diagnosis of the disease are of great importance.
