Kyrgyzstan President Sadir Japarov has proposed reintroducing the death penalty for serious crimes. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced by his press secretary Askat Alagozov. The Presidential Administration has been tasked with preparing a draft law that establishes the harshest penalties for crimes committed against children, girls, and women.
Japarov's initiative was prompted by the tragic incident involving 17-year-old Aysulu Mukasheva. Aysulu disappeared on September 27, and later her body was found in the Kemin district.
According to the investigation results, a 41-year-old man confessed to kidnapping, raping, and then killing her. This incident caused a great public outcry and intensified discussions on strengthening punishments for criminals.
Currently, work on the draft law is ongoing. The goal is to strengthen the fight against crime and protect society.
At the same time, the content of the draft law and its practical implementation will be discussed with the participation of the wider public and experts. The issue of the death penalty in Kyrgyzstan is urgent, and its reinstatement could lead to significant changes in social life.
