Israel's new proposal to HAMAS: the conditions for ceasefire are once again at the center of the conflict
The war is not stopping, and negotiations are not progressing, while Israel has sent a new proposal to HAMAS to cease fire. The proposal was delivered through Egyptian mediators. This was reported by Reuters.
HAMAS is not satisfied. Israel: disarmament is a condition
According to a senior HAMAS official, at least two points in the proposal are completely unacceptable to them. The Palestinian group has received the proposal through negotiators and is currently preparing an official response.
HAMAS reiterated its main demand: any ceasefire agreement must imply an end to the war in Gaza and the complete withdrawal of the Israeli army.
The new proposal does not meet these conditions:
- Israel did not intend to fully halt military operations;
- For the first time, a demand for the disarmament of HAMAS has been put forward in negotiations.
HAMAS is rejecting this condition.
Israel has not made an official statement
The Jewish state has not yet officially commented on this proposal. These negotiations are taking place under the shadow of an ongoing war.
After March 18 strikes: peace seems impossible
After the two-month ceasefire agreement that was in effect until March 18, Israel resumed airstrikes on Gaza. In targeted attacks on HAMAS:
- over 400 people have been killed,
- most of them are children and women;
- over 560 people have been injured.
This decision was made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.
Israel: HAMAS is to blame for the casualties
Netanyahu blamed HAMAS for the lack of progress in negotiations. He emphasized that HAMAS is responsible for “all unexpected casualties” in Gaza.
Netanyahu added: “These attacks are just the beginning...”
Israel has started a new attack strategy
Along with the renewed ground operation in Gaza, Israel has begun to implement a new military strategy:
- Creating a buffer zone between the north and south of the sector;
- Isolating areas controlled by HAMAS.
Peace currently seems closer to the front than to negotiations
Every new proposal, every rejection pushes the hope for peace in Gaza one step further back. HAMAS is rejecting disarmament, while Israel is calling the conflict a “beginning.”
Negotiations will continue. But in their shadow – devastating strikes, casualties, and an increasingly distant peace remain.
