A high-ranking general in Russia was killed as a result of an explosion (video)

A high-ranking military officer, General Yaroslav Moskalik, was killed in a car explosion that occurred in the Moscow region of Russia on April 25. This was reported by local residents, according to Mash and other media outlets.

The incident took place in the city of Balashikha, and currently, Russian law enforcement agencies are thoroughly investigating the causes of the explosion. According to preliminary information, an explosive device was installed in the general's car and placed near the gas cylinders of the vehicle. It was reported that the explosion was carried out remotely while Moskalik was passing by the car.

According to information disseminated by Russian media, the deceased General Yaroslav Moskalik served as the deputy head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case regarding the incident, but it has not yet been disclosed under which article the investigation is being conducted.

Yaroslav Moskalik participated in the "Normandy format" negotiations with Ukraine in 2015 and also served as a spokesperson for Russia's military operations in Syria. In 2021, he was awarded the rank of lieutenant general by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
