The German government has announced its readiness to accept 535 Afghan citizens who are in a difficult situation in Pakistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This information was confirmed by Germany's Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt. It is known that these citizens were forced to leave their homeland for security reasons after the Taliban movement took power in August 2021.
Currently, they are temporarily residing in Pakistan, but their legal status is still unclear. Among those planned to be accepted are Afghans who cooperated with the German Bundeswehr and other international organizations, activists who defended human rights, and community leaders who worked for women's rights.
According to Alexander Dobrindt, Germany aims to accept these citizens as soon as possible. This decision was made based on humanitarian principles.
Pakistan has set an obligation for Germany to accept these Afghans by the end of December. Otherwise, it has warned that the issue of deporting them to Afghanistan may be considered.
