Disputes between Denmark and the USA over Greenland are intensifying

There are serious disagreements between Denmark and the USA regarding the issue of Greenland. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen emphasized at the conclusion of talks held in Washington on January 14 that the parties have sharply differing positions on this matter. The negotiations involved US Vice President Jay Di Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
According to Rasmussen, it was agreed to establish a high-level working group to resolve the existing problems. The task of this group will be to find compromise points and maintain a balance of bilateral interests.
The working group is expected to begin its activities within a few weeks. The group's work will take into account the national security interests of the USA and the priorities of the Kingdom of Denmark.
Greenland's Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt also participated in the negotiations. While expressing readiness to develop cooperation with Washington, she firmly rejected the idea of Greenland belonging to the USA.
This position once again confirmed Greenland's aspiration to maintain its autonomy. The meeting took place in a government building near the White House and lasted about an hour.
Before the talks, US President Donald Trump had emphasized that Greenland holds strategic importance for US national security. According to Trump, this territory plays a crucial role in ensuring security in the Arctic region, as Russian and Chinese activities there are increasing.
Earlier, Trump openly expressed his desire to bring Greenland under US control and did not rule out the possibility of using military measures in this matter. However, for now, the parties are trying to listen to each other at the negotiation table.
Whether this dialogue will lead to a real solution or is merely a diplomatic attempt to buy time remains unknown. Considering the intensifying strategic competition in the Arctic, every step and statement will be closely monitored in the near future.
