Tensions between the US and Iran are escalating due to the Strait of Hormuz

Relations between the US and Iran in the international political arena have once again entered a complex stage. Zamin.uz reported this.
According to reports from prestigious foreign publications, negotiations between the two countries have not yet yielded the expected results, and the process has become somewhat more difficult. The main reason cited is the issue of establishing control over the Strait of Hormuz.
Since this strategic corridor is of critical importance for global oil trade, both sides are remaining firm in their positions. According to reports, during meetings held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, the parties were unable to resolve their mutual disagreements.
The Iranian government aims to maintain full control over the strait and collect duties from ships passing through it. Tehran officials have categorically rejected the American proposal for joint management of this region.
The negotiations were attended by Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner on behalf of the US. The Iranian delegation was led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Although the parties have reached an agreement on a temporary ceasefire to ease the situation, the main problems remain unresolved. Currently, a ten-point proposal package submitted by Iran is being analyzed.
This document could serve as a basis for future negotiations. Nevertheless, the contentious situation around the Strait of Hormuz is slowing down the dialogue process and distancing the parties from reaching a compromise.
The international community hopes for a peaceful resolution to the tensions in this region; however, the situation remains unstable for now. The outcome of future meetings will depend on the willingness of the parties to make concessions.
