The railway crossing between Hayraton and Mazar-i-Sharif was opened

Another important step has been taken toward developing strategic transport corridors connecting the Central and South Asian regions. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Following extensive modernization and restoration work, the fifth stop on the railway line between the cities of Hairatan and Mazar-i-Sharif has officially begun its operations. As a symbol of the successful completion of this large-scale project, the first commercial freight train solemnly arrived at the renovated station complex.
This event serves to elevate trade relations between the two neighboring countries to a new level. Mulla Abdul Ghani Baradar, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the interim government of Afghanistan, attended and spoke at the opening ceremony of the renovated stop.
In his speech, he expressed special gratitude to the Uzbek side for its selfless assistance and friendly cooperation in restoring the Afghan economy. He also called upon major local and foreign investors to contribute more actively to the advancement of the country's economy and to invest in various projects.
Mulla Abdul Ghani Baradar emphasized that official Kabul is highly interested in further strengthening multifaceted bilateral relations with Tashkent. Currently, prospects for maximizing the ease and simplification of mutual travel for citizens of the two neighboring countries are being seriously considered.
According to him, the number of mutual visits between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan is growing rapidly. In the future, it is expected that a special agreement will be reached between the two states to waive passport and visa requirements for citizens.
At the same time, Afghanistan's Minister of Public Works, Muhammad Isa Soniy, provided information about new plans being implemented in cooperation with Uzbek specialists. In particular, work is systematically continuing on the construction of the railway line connecting the cities of Hairatan and Herat, with a total length of 657 kilometers.
Furthermore, in order to further expand transport coverage, the state is financing the study of the technical and economic feasibility of a railway network project along the Herat-Kandahar route, spanning 878 kilometers. This stop, located near the Mawlana Jalaluddin Muhammad Balkhi International Airport, possesses high technical capacity.
It has the capability to simultaneously receive and dispatch more than 50 large wagons. As part of the global project, all administrative and service buildings in the area have undergone complete capital repairs.
Additionally, the power supply and other necessary infrastructure networks were updated based on modern requirements. Such efforts will serve to increase regional freight volume and ensure economic stability.
