An Uzbek truck driver in the US has been charged in the death of a young athlete

In the United States of America, a tragic road accident involving 42-year-old Uzbek citizen Behzod Asrarov attracted widespread public attention. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As a result of the incident, the 21-year-old goalkeeper of the University of Massachusetts football team lost his life. In connection with this tragedy, our compatriot is being held as a suspect in a criminal case.
According to preliminary information, the truck driven by Behzod Asrarov collided with a passenger car in which the young athlete was traveling. Due to the strong impact, the truck veered into the opposite lane and collided with several other vehicles.
During the investigation, it became known that the driver had moved to the U.S. in 2024 after obtaining a green card. Due to his insufficient knowledge of English, law enforcement officials were forced to communicate with him through a special online translator.
Asrarov is being charged not only with causing death through negligence but also with attempting to conceal evidence of the crime. According to the investigation, after the accident, the driver removed the video recorder from the truck.
Moreover, he deliberately destroyed his three mobile phones and an electronic device used to track working hours. Specialists believe these actions were intended to erase data on the truck’s movement speed and important information about the driver’s work schedule.
This incident has sparked heated debates across the country. Even the U.S. Secretary of Transportation expressed concern and proposed reviewing the issue of restricting employment opportunities for truck drivers who do not know English.
The court proceedings are currently ongoing, and a legal assessment of all circumstances is expected.
