Tashkent has been included in the ranking of the most expensive cities in the world to live in

The popular Numbeo portal has announced the latest global ranking of the world's most expensive cities to live in, as reported by Zamin.uz.
This list, which includes 549 major cities worldwide, features the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. The ranking details were analyzed, and the cost of living in the capital was compared with indicators from other countries.
According to the ranking results, Tashkent is placed 482nd in the overall list. The capital scored 31.2 points, placing it 74th among Asian cities.
In Central Asia, Kazakh cities lead in terms of cost of living, while Tashkent ranks third in the region.
In the regional ranking, Almaty takes first place with 40.1 points, followed by Astana in second with 34.5 points. Dushanbe and Bishkek occupy fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
The ranking shows that the most expensive regions on Earth are primarily located in Europe and the Caribbean, while the most affordable cities are found in Asia. Zurich and Basel in Switzerland, along with George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands, have been recognized as the most expensive places to live globally.
More than ten cities in India were listed among the cheapest in the world. In compiling the index, the cost of living in New York City, USA, was taken as the baseline and assigned a value of 100 points.
Each point above this indicates that living costs are one percent higher than in New York, while each point below indicates correspondingly lower costs. For example, living in Zurich is 23.4% more expensive than in New York.
In Tashkent, however, living expenses are 68.6% lower than in New York. This influential index was formulated by specialists taking into account key factors such as housing rent, grocery prices, restaurant costs, and local purchasing power.
