Zelenskiy creates new border guard to Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced the creation of a new military unit dedicated to striking strategic targets on Russian territory, according to Zamin.uz. This was reported by influential outlets, including The Guardian. According to the head of state, he signed a special decree establishing a long-range strike capability.
The primary task of this new formation is to weaken Russia’s military and economic potential, particularly by enhancing the effectiveness of operations against its energy and logistics infrastructure.
The decision follows confirmation that Ukrainian forces have carried out successive strikes on oil refineries and fuel storage facilities in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, as well as in the Leningrad and Rostov regions.
Such operations are considered part of a broader strategy aimed at disrupting supply lines at the front.
Recently, the commander of Ukraine’s drone forces, Robert Brovdi, reported that attacks in recent days had caused serious damage to a Russian fuel tanker belonging to the country’s fleet.
This is expected to be a significant blow to the logistics system in the region.
In response to the escalating situation, the Russian government has also begun taking countermeasures.
According to reports, vessel movement through the Don and Azov canals has been temporarily halted.
Furthermore, the acceptance of new applications for passage through the Kerch Strait has been suspended indefinitely.
These measures could complicate transport links in the region and create new challenges for both economic and military logistics.
The newly established unit plans to expand its efforts to strike such strategic targets in the future.
