A court ruling on domestic violence has been issued in Kazakhstan
A significant court process has concluded in the city of Astana, Kazakhstan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Saken Mamash, known for his diplomatic activities and previously working at the UAE embassy, was sentenced to 6 years in prison for torture and violence against a woman. He will serve his sentence in a medium-security penal institution and has been stripped of his title as a first-class advisor.

The charges against Mamash were brought under part 2 of article 110 of the Kazakhstan Criminal Code. This article provides for a prison sentence of 4 to 7 years for physical and psychological torture.

The court ruling stated that from 2019 to 2024, Mamash subjected his spouse, Karina Mamash, to constant violence due to jealousy. It was confirmed in court that he regularly punched his wife and struck her on various parts of her body and head violently.

He also restricted Karina's communication with her relatives and monitored her messages on phone and social media. After Karina Mamash made a video appeal on social media regarding this, Saken Mamash was summoned to Kazakhstan, and a criminal case was initiated against him.

During the trial, the victim's testimony, witness accounts, expert conclusions, screenshots, and video recordings fully proved his guilt. After the verdict was announced, Karina wrote on her page: “Justice has now been served.

I am grateful to all the girls who supported me, to the media, and to those who reached out to me. A loved one should never hit or abuse,” she stated.

This incident shows that a strong position against domestic violence is forming in society. New laws protecting the rights of women and children have been adopted in Kazakhstan, and there are significant results in the fight against violence.

Additionally, crisis centers and human rights activists are ensuring that violence does not go unpunished. This contributes to improving the social environment in the country.
