In Samarkand, the "Dari-Zanjir" complex is being restored for 415 million soums
The historically significant "Dari-Zanjir" complex is being restored in the city of Samarkand. This was reported by the Cultural Heritage Agency.
Information about the historical complex
The "Dari-Zanjir" complex, located in the old part of Samarkand near Registan Square, can be translated as "the door with chains." Here lived individuals from the lineage of Amir Timur and the Timurids, as well as representatives of the clergy and their family members.
Our ancestors chained the doors of the rooms to protect their women from the gaze of non-mahrams, resulting in a strict prohibition on the entry of outsiders. For this reason, this area became famous as "Dari-Zanjir."
Restoration works and expenses
The total area of the complex is 70.13 square meters. In 2024, it was fully taken under state protection, and restoration works began. A budget of 415 million soums was allocated for covering the monument and restoring its exterior.
Currently, restoration and conservation works are ongoing in the interior of the object. The complex is expected to reopen to tourists soon.
Programs for preserving cultural heritage
Throughout 2024, the Cultural Heritage Agency's Samarkand regional department carried out repair and restoration works on 20 cultural heritage sites. To date, restoration works have been fully completed and handed over for 5 objects.
The "Dari-Zanjir" complex was included in the National Register of Cultural Heritage based on the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on October 4, 2019, regarding the "Approval of the National Register of Immovable Property of Material Cultural Heritage" and was taken under state protection.
The restoration of the "Dari-Zanjir" complex is significant not only for preserving historical heritage but also for enhancing Samarkand's tourism potential. Once restored, this monument will become another attraction for local and foreign tourists.
