As a result of a horrific explosion at a fuel station for cars in the Kattaqorgon district of Samarkand region, the number of victims has unfortunately reached 3. This was reported by relying on the National Television channel.
The tragic incident occurred on May 7 at 15:06 in the territory of the fuel station located in the Qo‘shtepa neighborhood of the Kattaqorgon district. While fuel was being filled into a "ZIL" brand truck from two storage tanks with a capacity of 10 cubic meters, a sudden strong flash occurred.
Sadly, as a result of this explosion, the station manager and operator were killed at the scene, while the truck driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. However, despite the medical assistance provided, the driver also passed away in the hospital on May 9.
According to Hamidullo Sag‘dillayev, the press secretary of the Samarkand regional internal affairs department, a criminal case has been initiated under the second part of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Violation of fire safety rules) regarding this incident. Currently, investigative authorities are taking necessary measures to determine the exact causes of the incident and identify those responsible.
A special commission has been established to determine the causes of the incident, and security measures in the area have been strengthened. Additionally, security inspections are being carried out at other fuel stations as well.
