Plans to strengthen the limit on legionnaires in Russia

The president of the Russian Football Union, Alexander Dyukov, met with the heads of clubs in the Russian Premier League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

Several issues were discussed at the meeting, including the limit on the number of legionnaires. Clubs were informed that the Ministry of Sports plans to tighten the control over the legionnaire limit.

In fact, this limit may be strengthened starting from the 2026/2027 season, regardless of the opinion of the Russian Football Union and the Premier League. Currently, the "10+6 or 7" formula is being worked on, meaning that Premier League clubs will be able to register 10 legionnaires for the season and use 6 or 7 legionnaires on the field at the same time.

This was reported by "RB Sport". Currently, the legionnaire limit in the Premier League is "13+8", meaning each club can register a maximum of 13 legionnaires for the season and use 8 legionnaires on the field at the same time.

The second round matches of the Russian championship will take place from July 25 to July 27.
